The cLOTO™ system is compatible with the Master Lock 4400QR2 connected padlock. It is also compatible with the following Master Lock mechanical safety padlocks:
- Thermoplastic padlock locks series 406, 410, 411, S31, S32, S33
- Anodized aluminum padlock series A1106, S1106
Yes, existing mechanical padlocks can be used with cLOTO™.
All padlocks must be recognized by the cLOTO™ software. This is accomplished by assigning a unique serial number to each padlock, presenting the serial number on the padlock in QR format, and registering that serial number in the cLOTO™ software's lock library.
Master Lock has available for purchase serialized QR code labels in quantity increments of 100. The model number is S154QR1.
With a connected lock, the ability to open the padlock is controlled by logic within the software. The cLOTO™ software accounts for the employee's access rights, the status of the padlock, and the proper execution of the lockout procedure before authorizing the use of the digital key necessary to open the lock. With traditional mechanical padlocks, the decision to open a padlock is entirely at the discretion of the employee.
In areas where regulations allow, a "virtual hasp" feature in the software is enabled. When connected padlocks are used for energy isolation in group lockout scenarios, employees can disable the digital keys electronically through the Master Lock Worker mobile application. This applies from the first employee who signs on to a maintenance task to the last employee who finishes the task. The "virtual hasp" reduces the need to move equipment and people throughout the facility to facilitate group lockout projects.
Yes. It is viable to have a complete zero energy procedure and then one or more "task-based" procedures designed for specific maintenance tasks that do not require (or do not allow) complete de-energization of the machine. Each procedure must be separate and unique in the system and its purpose must be clearly stated in the description of the procedure.
Note: Businesses must refer to their lockout safety policy and establish a rigorous hazard assessment and justification analysis protocol prior to creating task-based procedures. For help in creating lockout procedures, please visit Master Lock's Professional Safety Services website.
In ambient conditions, the battery life is two to three years. Cold temperature applications can shorten the life of the battery. If the LED annunciator glows yellow, when the "awake" button is depressed, the battery life is getting low and should be replaced as soon as possible.
If the padlock’s LED turns yellow, the life of the battery is low and must be replaced. Instructions for replacing the battery can be found in the Master Lock Models 4400/4401 Instruction Guide.
No. Power is required to remove the blocking mechanism that secures the shackle when locked.
Yes, the software allows for select users to execute an “Emergency Lock Removal” process.
Refer to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standard 29 CFR 1910.147 on compliance requirements associated with the removal of a lockout padlock by anyone other than the person who installed the padlock.
The Emergency Lock Removal process will be recorded in the audit trail associated with the procedure the lock was being used for.
Yes. The cLOTO™ system requires a connected device, such as a mobile phone or tablet, to execute the procedure workflows and to access and transmit data. The system also requires environments where adequate Wi-Fi or wireless/cellular service is available.
No. The system requires operating environments where adequate Wi-Fi or wireless/cellular service is available.
All users and padlocks must be identified in the software. Each contractor must be added to the system and the appropriate role assigned. The contractor must also use locks that are registered in the software. This may require the facility to issue registered locks to the contractor.
Password resets can be done on your own profile when you login to the system via the web application. If you cannot remember your password, you will need to contact your system administrator.
Only certain assigned roles can initiate a LOTO procedure in the cLOTO™ Manager App. These roles include the Safety Manager, Maintenance, and Maintenance Plus roles. cLOTO™ Coordinator roles may apply a procedure that was assigned to them. Please review the permissions assigned to each role in your system documentation.
The system supports both personal and group lockout procedures.
